Integrated Planning for Watershed Management Short Course

This is a WEFTEC Curated Short Course, compiled from the most topical and in-demand content from WEFTEC and other WEF events.

For over 25 years, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been issuing policy and guidance in support of watershed approaches designed to protect water quality. This short course will look at some of the creative approaches and successes in integrated planning that have been achieved at the local level and help you determine new ideas to implement integrated planning in your community.

  • Communicate how integrated planning can be used to meet multiple goals
  • Describe several different approaches to reduce nutrients in the watershed using integrated planning approaches
  • Discuss the example from one case study on feasibility, cost, and effectiveness of the use of satellite treatment facilities within an integrated planning approach
  • Recognize the need for collaboration, focus on multi-benefits, and balance
  • Explain how regional collaboration and partnerships can leverage resources and goals
This WEFTEC Curated Short Course consists of 3 learning modules (Going Beyond Watershed-Based Permitting, Integrated Planning, and Trading; Watershed Planning - Focus on Nutrients and Bacteria; Integrated Planning Case Studies and Ideas) as well as some bonus content and additional resources. On completion of all three learning modules, learners will receive a badge that can be shared on networking sites such as LinkedIn.
